Black Pearl Energy, a West Texas company located in Midland, is proud to introduce solutions to long-standing problems through out Texas. In the midst of one of the worst droughts in Texas history and ongoing water concerns, we have come up with a solution to help conserve one of our most important resources… Fresh Water. Black Pearl has introduced a floating cover for fresh water frack pits that is engineered with a sophisticated arrangement of integrated floats and weighted ballasts that allows it to rise and fall with the different levels of water in the pit and also keeps it intact during the high west Texas winds. It eliminates evaporation and as a side benefit controls algae growth and doubles as a bird barrier.
Our floating evaporation covers have been engineered and designed with a specialized plastic consisting of floats and ballasts to eliminate evaporation. The covers can be adapted to any size pit. Water is a diminishing resource and with costs escalating to $0.50-$0.85 per barrel in addition to the cost of water transfer. If trucking water, the loss to evaporation in one month can pay for the cover, with typical ROI of 1-6 months.
Black Pearl also can provide above ground storage tanks of any size, these are a modular/portable design system and can include a double liner leak detection system. Applications include rocky soil that makes an earthen pit difficult and expensive to build, or when storing brine or brackish water that requires special pit permitting. Common volumes are 50,000 - 200,000 barrels.
